Questions we get about missed-call text-back

If yours isn’t here, email hello@getbeepback.com and a real person will reply the same day.

Does BeepBack replace my phone number?

No. BeepBack does not replace or port your business number. Customers keep calling the number they already know, and BeepBack sits behind it with one call-forwarding setting on your line, whether that is a landline, a VoIP line, or a cell. Nothing to install and no new hardware. The exact codes and steps are in the forwarding guide and the VoIP and landline guide.

How much does BeepBack cost?

BeepBack costs $79 a month, flat, locked for as long as you stay subscribed. No contract, no setup fee, and no per-text charges, so a busy week costs the same as a quiet one. The rate goes to $99 for new signups after this, and yours does not move. Your first month is free, starting the day your texting goes live. See exactly what’s included →

Is BeepBack one automatic text or a real conversation?

It is a conversation. The first text goes out seconds after the missed call, then BeepBack asks what the job is, how soon they need it, where, and who to ask for, and keeps replying until it has those answers. What reaches you is a lead already sorted by urgency, not a notification. You take over as yourself whenever you are free.

Will texting missed callers get my number marked as spam?

That is what the carrier registration is for. The number that texts your customers is registered with the phone carriers under your business’s name, not ours, which is how carriers tell real business texting from spam. Nobody can promise what every filter does, but registration in your name, low volume, and instant STOP handling are exactly what the carriers ask for, and BeepBack does all three.

What do my customers see when BeepBack texts them?

A text back in your business’s name, seconds after the missed call, from a local number in your area code. The word BeepBack never appears. It asks what they need, when, and where, gets their name, then tells them your team will confirm. Every first message carries STOP-to-opt-out, as the carriers require. See the exact messages →

Can’t my phone just do this itself?

Mostly no. An iPhone can’t: its only automatic reply lives in the Driving Focus and answers messages, never missed calls. Google Voice has no auto-reply on any plan. Android can, through third-party apps, but the text goes out from your personal number, it’s one canned sentence with no follow-up questions, and automated business texting from a personal line is against carrier terms. The honest platform-by-platform tour, with links to Apple’s and Google’s own documentation, is on the DIY page.

Will my customers see a local number?

Yes. Provisioning picks a local number in your area code, registered to your business with the carriers, not a short code or a random toll-free number.

What if I answer the call?

Then nothing sends. BeepBack only steps in when you can’t pick up.

Does the caller still reach my voicemail?

No, and that’s the point. On the standard forwarding setup, the ringing ends with a short spoken line in your business’s name - "Sorry we missed you. Leave a message with what you need and we’ll be in touch shortly." - and the text arrives seconds later. The greeting is yours to rewrite, in your pick of voice. The one line that stays is the short recording notice before the beep: some states require it whenever a message is recorded, so we speak it for you and it cannot be switched off. You always see the number in your dashboard, and whatever they say is captured and reaches you as a lead, instead of sitting in a mailbox.

What if the same person calls twice?

Two calls in an hour is one conversation and one text-back. We never double-text a caller: a repeat call within a day lands in the same thread instead of starting a new one, and a caller never gets more than three unanswered texts in a day. Inside a single conversation, someone who never replies gets one reminder and nothing after it.

What happens when someone calls at 11 PM?

They get the text seconds later, same as at noon. Emergencies don’t keep business hours, and neither does the text-back; you get the alert the moment the call happens, any hour. If you’d rather late-night callers wait for morning, quiet hours is one switch in Settings and their text goes out at 9 AM instead.

Do I need an app or new hardware?

No. Nothing to install, nothing to carry. BeepBack works behind the number you already have. Urgent leads reach your phone as a regular text, and tapping the text opens the lead right in your browser, on a dashboard built for a phone screen. If you like having an icon, add BeepBack to your home screen and it opens full screen, like an app.

What do my regular customers see when I miss their call?

The same thing a new caller sees: a fast text from your business asking what they need. Regulars reply like anyone else, and the moment you see a name you know, you can take over the conversation yourself from your dashboard.

What if the caller is on a landline that can’t get texts?

You still see the missed call. Every missed call is logged in your dashboard the moment it happens, even when the text can’t be delivered, so you see the number and call back. Numbers that can’t receive texts are never texted again.

What if a caller replies in Spanish, or something the assistant can’t sort?

The assistant asks its questions in English. If a caller answers in another language or in a way it can’t confidently sort, it doesn’t guess: you get an alert that a lead needs you, and you take over the conversation yourself.

Is this a robocaller or a call center?

Neither. BeepBack never cold-calls or cold-texts anyone. It only texts back someone who just called you and couldn’t get through. No call center ever talks to your customers.

Can I pause BeepBack while I’m away?

Yes. Pause for one, two, or three months right from Billing in your dashboard. Texting and billing both stop, and everything resumes automatically on the date you pick, or earlier if you’re back early. Your number, your carrier registration, and your locked rate all survive a pause. Canceling is the only thing that gives up your locked rate, and 30 days after a cancel your carrier registration is torn down too, so coming back later means the two-week wait again.

Can I turn the texting off for a night without pausing my plan?

Yes. There’s a pause switch for the assistant in Settings: flip it and BeepBack stops texting until you flip it back, while your number, registration, and billing carry on. For longer breaks, the billing pause is the better tool.

I have more than one location. How does that work?

Each location gets its own BeepBack: its own local number, its own carrier registration, and its own $79 a month. That keeps every location’s texts coming from a number registered to that location.

What happens if I cancel?

Billing and texting stop at the end of the period you’ve paid for, and you can undo the cancel any time before then. Yearly plans come with two money-back windows, and both end the plan right away with the refund on your card in about 5–10 business days: cancel within 30 days of your first yearly payment and we refund it in full (one guarantee refund per business), or cancel within 14 days of any yearly renewal charge and we refund that renewal in full. We send you the carrier code to turn call forwarding off, and your own line behaves exactly as it did before BeepBack. For 30 days after your plan ends, you can still sign in to view and download your leads (email us if you want the full conversations too), and your texting number is parked: email hello@getbeepback.com within those 30 days if you want to keep the number and we’ll port it out to you. Once that 30-day window passes, your carrier registration is torn down, so coming back later means the two-week wait again. A pause keeps everything alive instead.

I don’t book jobs. Is BeepBack still for me?

Yes. Law offices, studios, shops, and front desks of every kind use BeepBack to answer the calls they miss. The text-back captures who called and what they need, and the front desk view shows who is waiting on a callback, with no revenue math anywhere. See Front desk mode →

Does BeepBack answer my phone?

No. Your phone rings exactly like it always has, and nobody and nothing picks up on your behalf. BeepBack steps in after a call goes unanswered, with a text in your business’s name that captures what the caller needs. Callers who leave a voicemail still reach you: it is captured, transcribed, and lands in the same inbox as your text leads.

How do I know when a lead needs me?

The moment a caller texts back, BeepBack alerts you by text, email, and in the app. The text carries a link straight to that lead, so one tap opens it. And if a possible emergency goes unopened, we escalate: a reminder after about ten minutes, then an actual phone call to your cell after about thirty, so a middle-of-the-night emergency can’t slip by. Opening the lead stops the alerts.

Can my office manager or dispatcher get the alerts too?

Yes. In Settings, add a second phone (and an optional email) under "Also alert someone else." They’ll get the same new-lead and emergency alerts you do, including the emergency phone call, so whoever’s running the board never misses one. They can reply STOP anytime to opt out.

How do I reply to a lead?

From your BeepBack dashboard, which works in your phone’s browser. Open the conversation, take over (that pauses the assistant), reply, and hand it back when you’re done. Your reply goes out from your business’s BeepBack number, so the caller never sees your personal cell.

Can I change what the texts say?

Yes. You can rewrite the questions BeepBack asks and your system messages. The wording is yours. The only thing you can’t remove is your business name and "Reply STOP to opt out" from the first text, because carrier rules require them. Edits to that first text get a quick review to stay within carrier rules; everything else is yours to change on the spot.

Does BeepBack work outside the US?

Not yet. BeepBack is US-only: it provisions US phone numbers and runs on the US carrier texting program (A2P 10DLC).

How long until the texting is live?

About two weeks, and almost none of that is us. The phone carriers have to approve your business for texting under your own name (the same registration that keeps your texts out of spam), and their review takes roughly two weeks, sometimes longer. There’s nothing for you to do while it clears, and you’re not charged until your number is live and texting. It isn’t dead time either: from the day you set your call forwarding, missed calls are answered with a greeting in your business’s name and land in your dashboard as leads, and we text and email you the moment one does. The automatic texting is the half that waits. The carriers’ clock only starts when you sign up. The day your texting goes live is the day your free month starts, so your first charge comes about a month after that.

What if the carriers reject my registration?

It happens, and it’s fixable. The usual causes are small: a legal name that doesn’t exactly match IRS records, a typo in the EIN, or a website that doesn’t look finished. We see the rejection reason, fix what needs fixing, and resubmit or appeal for you; we may email you if we need one more detail. That usually adds days, not weeks. You’re not charged during any of it, and if your business can’t be approved at all, you never will be: billing only ever starts once your number is live and texting.

What do you need from me for the carrier paperwork?

Your legal business name (if you have an EIN, written exactly as it appears on your IRS letter, because the carriers check for an exact match), your business type, your business address, your EIN if you have one (never a Social Security number), your industry, your mobile and email, and a website or social page only if you have a real, working one: a parked or half-built page gets the registration rejected outright, while none at all is fine. BeepBack writes and submits the rest of the paperwork for you.

I don’t have an EIN. Can I still sign up?

Yes. An EIN isn’t required, it just picks the path: with one, the carriers verify your business and allow it more texts per day (more than a single shop is likely to need either way); without one, they verify you personally with a one-time code texted to your cell (a real mobile number, not an internet line), and replying the same day keeps your registration moving. We never ask for your Social Security number. One quirk: a brand-new EIN can be slower than no EIN at all, because the tax databases take one to three months to list it; if vetting trips on that, we take the appeal to the carriers for you, which usually adds about a week. For most businesses the check takes about two weeks, and when you get an EIN later, we re-register you on the business path.

What about spam calls?

They cost you nothing, in every sense. Your price is flat, so a noisy day never changes your bill. Robodialers and numbers that can’t receive texts are screened out before any text goes out, and a repeat caller only ever gets one text back, never a barrage. If junk does text in, the AI files it as not-a-lead, and threads nobody answers close on their own. Screened calls stay visible in a spam list in your dashboard, where you can listen to any voicemail they left and mark a real caller as not spam with one tap, which sends them the usual text-back. Your stats stay honest too: calls covered and missed-call counts only ever count real people.

Who’s behind BeepBack?

Sena Engineering LLC, a New Jersey company. We register your number with the carriers, and we read hello@getbeepback.com ourselves, so when you email, you get an answer from someone who actually works on the system, the same day, in English or Spanish.

Somewhere out there tomorrow, a phone rings at 2:14.
